What is Allied Health?

Allied health is distinct from the medical, dental, and nursing fields. Allied health Professionals (AHPs) are not part of those professions, but they work alongside them to treat and care for patients or clients. The main distinction lies in the fact that the services focus on preventing and aiding in the recovery of clients, whereas the medical industry concentrates on diagnosing and curing illnesses and injuries.

What is the role of an Allied Health Assistant or Professional?

The main goal is to provide clients with care and support in completing specific treatment plans that they feel would benefit them, based on their physical or mental issues related to injury, illness, or disabilities. On the other hand, AHPs diagnose the client's issues and then assist with treatment and rehabilitation.

AHPs in Australia

In Australia, there are around 200,000 registered AHPs. When compared to the number of Australians needing their help, there aren't enough people in that workforce. Please consider thanking your AHP for their time and effort, as they are few and far between and are incredibly sought after.

What is the purpose of Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy is a client-centred health profession that aims to help individuals return to their daily activities, work, and life. Occupational therapists work with people who have physical, mental, or social disabilities and/or injuries, to assist them in overcoming challenges they face in their everyday activities. They achieve this by providing meaningful activities and routines to help individuals adapt to, reduce, or prevent further complications.

State of the Art Equipment Designed to Measure Performance

At Promitto, we use specially designed strength training equipment that is pneumatically designed; they run entirely on air pressure. This means that there is no use of traditional "free-weights" that you may find at a normal gym. This comes with several advantages that make them the perfect equipment for seniors and people recovering during occupational therapy.

Incremental Weights

The equipment can adjust weight in small 100g increments for smoother progression, unlike standard machines with larger increments.

Safety & Efficiency

The equipment always provides optimal resistance, naturally mimicking the regular function of the muscles. This ensures that the exercise is performed with maximum efficiency. Traditional weights can cause stress on the muscles and joints of the user much sooner. Using one of these machines reduces the likelihood of muscle soreness and injuries, and lowers the chance of accidents happening.

Noiseless

No weights means no loud clunking or smashing, making the experience much more calming. We have several different machines available to target all sorts of different muscles.

Customised Routine

The benefit to using our equipment is its technology and accessibility. The equipment activates and presets all settings to the user’s specific requirements (After establishing what those are of course). With a swipe of a unique identifier card, the user's resistance values, height adjustments, and workout routine are uploaded to the machine. The user then performs the workout routine and can make adjustments as they improve. The data is then uploaded to our systems online where our health experts can evaluate your progress and make further adjustments as necessary. This information is also useful for GPs or other Allied Health departments that may want to view this information for themselves.

We have several different machines available to target all sorts of other muscles. If you have an interest in finding out how they work in person, be sure to book a free consultation and tour of our club.
